All positions on management committee have been filled. Ivan has agreed to step up into the VP’s role and ex committee member Wayne has agreed to fill the vacancy so created until the next AGM. This will all be ratified at the January Committee meeting.
Extensions to Club Facilities
As mentioned at the last (November) meeting we are awaiting confirmation from the Wodonga Council with regards to several items mainly fire exits. A couple of new doors will need to be installed, one next to the roller door, one as an entrance at the end of the extension and possibly one other. The extension will run the length of the current workshop, meeting room (approx. 22m) at a width of 3.5m. The internal layout has not yet been considered.
This last month we have had donations of $120 towards the building fund from members which is greatly appreciated. Further fund raising will take place over the coming months to give the fund a boost. Thanks also to members who have donated items for sale for the club at the cottage, this will also generate additional funds for the project. Further donations will be gratefully received.
Letter from a Member re Extension and Utilization of Workshop Space.
The committee spent considerable time reviewing a letter from a club member with concerns about our extension. While there were several suggestions of a constructive nature, a couple contained mis information which has been clarified. Most of the suggestions had been considered by the planning committee two years ago.
Insurance of the Club Property and Contents.
The committee approved the renewal of our current insurance policy but are considering increasing both areas to accurately reflect current values.
Once again thanks to the many members who contributed towards our Xmas Hamper Raffle conducted during our Xmas Supper following the monthly meeting. Heather and Colin Rhodes were the big winners and should be able to complement their Xmas Dinner with goods from the hamper.
As part of our fund raising, we are also conducting a raffle with a variety of prizes to be drawn at our Trivia fun meeting in March. Committee member Cheryl has undertaken to organise the raffle and displays will be located at the cottage, workshop and any events we attend between now and then. Tickets will be $2 each.
Farmers Market Twilight Event
We have been advised that the Farmers Market will be holding a Twilight Market on December the 23rd between 4pm and 8pm. The cottage will also be open during these times.
The club has been extremely fortunate to have been offered on of the first BBQ’s at the trade centre following the COVID restrictions. The new requirements mean we need a couple more people to help both in the morning and in the afternoon. The BBQ will take place on Sunday 10th January between 10am and 4pm. Volunteers so far are: Morning – Dennis, Ivan, Cheryl, Cossette and Stephan. Afternoon – Marg T, Tom, Peter H and Col S. If you can assist, please contact myself or Cheryl who is coordinating the activity.
At our monthly meeting we farewelled long-time member of the Club, Don Batty. Don and wife Ann are moving to sunny Queensland to be closer to family. We wish Don and Ann all the best with their relocation.
It is the committee’s intention to have the workshop open for members for as many hours as possible. The club rooms will close between 19th December and the 4th January. Scroll saws and Woodturning will resume on 6th January and the Mill will reopen on 2nd February weather permitting. For other activities please contact your co-ordinators. If you wish to use the workshop when no activity is designated, check with workshop manager Dan and VP Ivan who have offered to open at other times. Remember two adult members must be present when the workshop is in use and members must have been inducted on the machines they use.
In conclusion, I hope that everyone celebrates the festive season in great spirit and that the new year brings us reason to continue our celebrations well into the new year. Merry Christmas from myself and the committee.
