Presidents Report January 2021
A new year is upon us and hopefully one not as challenging as the past. Our club is off to a great start with 8 new members for the month bringing our financial membership up to 104.
Following advise from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and regulation our raffles must be drawn on the day of sale and the prizes valued at under $500.
As a result, instead of the major raffle we will be holding a raffle each week at the Farmers Market with the prize drawn at 12 midday. The prizes donated by members and businesses will be offered on a weekly basis.
Thanks to Dan our workshop manager, our club rooms have been inspected and where necessary equipment updated so as that our rooms are now compliant with regulations and the CFA will be issuing a compliance certificate in the near future.
Australia Day Club of the Year
I had great pleasure in nominating our club, supported by another committee member for Wodonga Councils Australia Day Club of the Year. It continues to be important for us to promote ourselves in the wider community. Whilst talking about promoting the club, it was great to hear Andre and Julianna speaking on ABC radio about their special Christmas projects. Great work to you both.
NE Woodworkers Gathering
We are taking a risk with COVID and rescheduling the NE Woodworkers Gathering on either the 10th or 17th of April. Further news when it becomes available.
Thanks to the Dozen members who assisted at the recent Bunnings BBQ. With temperatures in the mid 30’s we still sold plenty of snags to the hungry customers. Thanks Cheryl, for co-ordinating the event which raised over $400 for the club.
Test and Tag
A “Test and Tag” visit is being arranged for members who wish to have electrical equipment tested and tagged. Cost should be minimal and members who use their equipment to demonstrate at the markets or special public functions, will have their costs paid by the club. Look out for a flyer advising time and date.
It is with regret that we acknowledge the retirement of Bob and Julie Lithgow from the club. Bob and Julie have been valued members of the club and have both contributed significantly to the club for well over thirty years in a variety of roles. They will both be sadly missed.
In an endeavour to cut postage costs we are asking any members who are entitled to concession stamps who have any spares if they would like to sell or donate them to the club. Please contact Julianna if this applies to you.
Box making is back on the agenda for those interested. Thanks to Col Rhodes box making will recommence on Tuesday mornings.
Two club members undertook a foreign order to process some timber, earning $200 for the club. Well done fellows.
