NE Woodies Gathering
It is great to report that many club members were part of the 60 plus who turned up at the German Austrian Australian Club on 17th April. The meeting heard reports from Wangaratta , Eildon , Shepparton, Benalla, Peppin Point and Albury Wodonga Clubs as well as seeing an amazing display of work in the show and tell session. The afternoon session was a memorable demonstration of intricate woodturning by Ken Wraigth. Mark this as a must attend meeting next year which will be held at Wangaratta. Thanks to Col Story for his liaison work with the club regarding meals.
We have finally had feedback from the Wodonga City Council and Ranbuilt. We are currently awaiting an update on the original quote as such a long period has lapsed since the work was originally quoted. We are now in a satisfactory financial position to commit funds. We will then go ahead with the concrete slab and then the building. We are still looking for the last 50 bessa blocks for the retaining wall. The Albury Commercial Club generously donated $500 for the project.
Inventory of Tools, Equipment and Sundries.
Several committee members completed an inventory of all equipment- machines, tools and accessories housed in the workshop and meeting room. Currently the committee is examining various insurance proposals to ensure we are adequately covered for building and contents insurance.
It was also decided that a stocktake of major equipment be carried out this year, followed by the store room in 2022 and the accessories and sundry items in 2023.
What a great turnout of members at the Leneva steam rally and the easter Farmers Market over the easter weekend. Demonstrations, sales and club promotion were features of both locations. Well done everyone.
Welcome to our 3 new members to the club this month – Michael Romanov, Markus Toi and Mark Vaughan. I’m sure you will extend your usual warm welcome when you meet them.
Craft Alive 2nd – 4th July.
A serious note with a light hearted twist. At our meeting Andre presented the milling group with a compact first aid Kit.I heard a rumour that following a slight injury to Andre at the Mill, Allan and tom administered first aid to him suggesting they might try a bit of bush medicine on his wound. Fortunately all ended well and we thank Andre for his thoughtfulness to the safety of the millers.
Another long ramble but this should bring you up to date and I look forward to catching up with everyonein the coming weeks. Until then Stay safe.
