We are rapidly approaching the end of the year with the Melbourne Cup run and won and the Wodonga Gold Cup to be run on the 24th of November.
We have our Christmas Party at the German/Austrian club on the 5th of December and if you haven’t put your name on the list at the Cottage or at the Club Rooms time is running out to do so.
This year has been an eventful year with many things happening and have happened around our club, Cheryl Seymour has organized a raffle, the tickets are available at the club rooms to be sold to family and friends to help raise funds to help with our next large purchase of a Dust extraction and ducting system which will create a safer workshop environment for all of us.
Lex, our new secretary, has been busy making a new bench for the drop saws, we now have 2 drop saws one for fine cutting i.e., box making and fine furniture work, the older one is now used for rough/general cutting. There will be a full training session for all members on the new saw.
Several of our members went to Shepperton on the last weekend of October for the Goulburn Valley Woodworkers Exhibition, we had a stand there and a very good weekend was had by all of us, but I won’t elaborate too much as I will leave that to Heather for her report. What I can say is that I did quite a lot of talking to other woodworking club members as well as the President of G.V. woodworkers Emily Slaughter as well as several members of Bendigo and Benalla clubs which gave me ideas in ways to improve different things that we do and improve.
