Another year, another AGM. As this will be my last report as President, I thought I might go over some of the high spots of the last 12 months.
I think the club is in a good position for the incoming committee to build on. We have new faces to welcome onto the committee with corresponding new ideas and energy to work with. Club finances are healthy, with positive income streams projected. The move to Bunnings Albury from Wodonga, as we have already seen, (thanks Juliana), will improve income. The cottage has traded well all year thanks to Colin and his team. Mill sales are strong, both through the workshop and the cottage, thanks Harry and the mill crew.
Despite small attendance numbers at the workshop, due I think to a really cold wet winter and COVID restrictions and serious concerns for our membership demographics, we are still open six days a week.
Thanks here to new groups forming in furniture and box making. Thanks Colin and Martin. Thanks to Paul for opening Tuesday and Thursday mornings, many spent sitting just in case someone showed up.
Our web site has been updated and is showing positive results in inquiries for new memberships among other things. A tie in with our face book page now works well with more improvements to come. Thanks Katie H. well done.
The extension build is completed with fit out well underway. Dan is working on the lights and power as I write this, and Mark and myself overseeing progress here, with a bit to do yet before we can start using it. Thanks Dan for taking care of the electrics, there was a lot more to do here than we anticipated. Martin and Ross have started on the workshop re alignment and the first move showing the potential already. Call in and have a look. This will be really exciting to watch over the next few months.
We have had a good year despite headwinds (be careful, starting to sound like a politician) thanks to the great effort by our members, around the workshop and the cottage, and in some cases both. There are many names I have missed here, and for that I apologizes, I only hope to have covered some others in the monthly reports.
Your club is not just about paying your fees and using the facilities. Without the extra support needed for project completion and fund raising we could not go on as we do. Many of our members are not physically able to do much, but many more are. Major projects like workshop re fit and the mill move from Staghorn Flat will require a lot of help, so if you are physically able, you will be needed.
Ongoing help at the cottage is nearly always needed, and 4 hours a month volunteering would solve the issue.
Finally I would like to welcome the new members on the committee, it looks like a very good line up to me.
Plenty of good fresh ideas and enthusiasm, we will all work to make them successful.
Thank you all for help and support over the last year.
Ivan President
